Bike trails

A few suggestions for tours:

Stone Age, Baroque and nature – 25 km
From Meersburg on the shore bike trail to Uhldingen (pile dwellings) – Minster in Birnau – on the Prelate’s trail to the Ape Mountain (outdoor enclosure with barbary apes) – Salem – Mimmenhausen – through Buggensegel – Grasbeuren – Baitenhausen (Baroque chapel) – back to Meersburg.

Vineyards, forest and wine-growing villages – 35 km
Above the market place from Meersburg towards town through Riedetsweiler in direction of Baitenhausen – through Ahausen – Bermatingen – Markdorf – further in direction of Immenstaad – on the High Path through Kippenhausen and Frenkenbach to Hagnau – on the Shore Path back to Meersburg.

By bike and with the ferry  – 50 km
From Meersburg at the yacht port past the vineyard in Haltnau to Hagnau, Kirchberg Castle - Immenstaad – Friedrichshafen – with the car ferry to Romanshorn – along the Swiss shore through Uttwil – Kesswil – Güttingen – Altnau – Landschlacht – Münsterlingen – Kreuzlingen to Constance/Staad – with the ferry back to Meersburg.

In three stages around the Lake
You can cycle comfortably around Lake Constance within 3 to 4 days with Meersburg as fixed base. This is possible thanks to the combination of different means of transport and the convenient situation of Meersburg. Without having to look with difficulty for an accomodation for one night, and with the possibility to travel without luggage.

  1. Stage: Around the Überlinger See – 50 km
    Überlingen – Ludwigshafen – Bodman – along the Bodanrück – Wallhausen – Litzelstetten – past Island Mainau – with the ferry from Staad to Meersburg.
  2. Stage: Around the Lower Lake, lake Zellersee, lake Gnadensee – 75 km
    With the car ferry to Constance – near Tägerwilen to Switzerland – past Arenenberg Castle – Steckborn – Stein on the Rhine – Radolfzell – Allensbach – back with the ferry to Meersburg.
  3. Stage: Around the Upper Lake – 135 km
    Immenstaad – Friedrichshafen – Langenargen – Lindau – Bregenz – Rorschach – Romanshorn – Kreuzlingen – Constance – back with ferry to Meersburg.


A shortcut of the distance with the “White Fleet” boats is possible from all locations with ship pier.

Guided bike tour:

Every Thursday from May to September (not on public holidays) a guided bike tour takes place in Meersburg. The destinations are Unteruhldingen, Birnau, Prälatenweg, Affenberg and Castle Salem. On the tour you may enjoy the arcadian countryside around the lake. Primary meeting place is the tourist information in Kirchstrasse 4, at 10:00 am. Secondary meeting place is Unterstadttor at 10:10 am.
This tour is free of charge.
