autumnPay a visit to the poetess. The beautiful Fürstenhäusle (Prince’s Little House) with a lovely view over Lake Constance is located amidst the vineyards above the town. Annette von Droste-Hülshoff bought it in an auction in 1843 and used it as personal refuge. It is equipped with Biedermeier furniture, pictures and books of Droste and her family and shows original handwritings and personal souvenirs.

Initially built as pleasure house for Constance Canon and later Prince Bishop Jacob Fugger von Kirchberg und Weissenbronn (1567 – 1626) the little estate plus vineyard had been, for over 200 years, the property of Constance Prince Bishops who gave their name to it. In 1936 the lower rooms of the house had been vacated to build a small memorial to visit the former house owner Marie born Freiin von Bothmer, the widow of baron Carl Droste zu Hülshoff. In 1960 Helene baroness von Bothmer sold the Fürstenhäusle, the actual Droste Museum, to the land Baden-Württemberg.
