Meersburg International Castle Music Concerts

The International Castle Music Concerts have been taking place in the Hall of Mirrors of the New Castle since 1964. They were initiated in 1964 by the concert pianist Günther Weinert.



Meersburg can be proud of this series of events that enjoys a good reputation far beyond the borders of the region. The Castle Concerts are an integrant part of Meersburg’s calender of events and the many new festivities at Lake Constance. Not only can the International Castle Concerts rely upon the permanently renewed interest of holiday guests, they also enjoy the fidelity of music friends who often come from very far every year to see and listen to individual artits or ensembles or even whole series of concerts in the festive atmosphere of the Hall of Mirrors.

Great names, from Elly Ney to Justus Frantz and Homero Francesch and many, many others have performed here. It is precisely some of the renowned artits who used to come and who still come because they simply enjoy playing in the cultivated atmosphere of the Hall of Mirrors with its broad view over the Lake and in front of a public whose knowledge of music is often above average.

  

This year once again the programme is exceptional and a special music pleasure is presented. It was possible to engage a few excellent artists, soloists and ensembles to perform in the somptuous Hall of Mirrors of the New Castle.

More than 40 years, that is a long time in a present made of permanent, rapid mutations. That the Meersburg Castle Concerts have continued to exist without losing their lustre might also be due to the fact that they would never merely focus on themselves, but would always know how to exploit the various possibilities and the particular flair of the New Castle.
